The Founding Story

The story of “Oud Iraq” did not begin with a ready-made shop…
It began with a journey that lasted for years—a search for old ouds, for true master craftsmen, and for the hidden beauty within every piece of wood carved to become sound.

Salah Murad collected ouds, documented their history, got to know the artisans, and restored old instruments to preserve a part of Iraq’s musical memory.
And through all those journeys—inside workshops, old houses, and heritage markets—the idea was born:

To establish a single center that brings together all this heritage and presents it in an elegant, modern way.
