About the Maker: Mohammed Fadhil Hussein
Mohammed Fadhil Hussein is one of the most prominent Iraqi oud makers of the 20th century. He played an important role in the history of Iraqi oud craftsmanship and the development of the Iraqi school. In the mid-1950s, he created the Sliding Oud and made a special oud for the great musician Munir Bashir. He is also credited with the development of the movable bridge, which became an important advancement in oud design. Throughout his career, he handcrafted more than 6,500 ouds. His original historical ouds remain highly valued as artistic and historical pieces.
